ELK RIVER LIBRARY BOARD MINUTES <br />August 26, 1997 <br />Board Members: <br />Murray McNair, Chair <br />Mary Keifenheim, Vice Chair <br />Eleanor Holm, Secretary <br />Elly Kretsch <br />Linda Ritchie <br />present <br />present <br />present <br />absent <br />absent <br />Also present: Mick Stoffers, Librarian - Verne Oleksowicz,GRRL <br />Meeting was called to order at 7:10 by Chair McNair. <br />Minutes from June were approved as presented. <br />No correspondence or suggestion box items to discuss. <br />Acceptance for all bills and budget updates for July and <br />August was moved by Mary and seconded by Eleanor. All in favor. <br />Old Business: <br />Board reviewed the final budget for next year after Murray <br />and Mick met with the city. It is now ready for final approval <br />by the Council. <br />Update on Faye Ryding property adjacent to Library. Murray <br />reports that the family is ready to sell the property; board <br />discussed the need for more parking space. A motion was made by <br />Mary and seconded by Eleanor to recommend that the City enter <br />negotiations with the Ryding family to acquire the property. <br />All in favor. <br />New Business: <br />Bryan Adams from Elk River Utilities visited the Library and <br />gave quotes to Mick on new lighting for the parking lot. After <br />discussion a motion was made by Eleanor with a second by Mary <br />to purchase 3 new lights. All in favor. They would be <br />purchased for $256.00 each and Elk River Utilities will install <br />them at no cost. <br />The Internet is up and running! Patrons may sign up 3 days <br />in advance for 1 hour of use. It has been very well received. <br />Mick will contact Phil Hals regarding 2 dead trees on the <br />property. <br />The mats in the entry need re-edging and Mick will pursue this. <br />
