Stoffers is still looking for computer tables that will coordinate with existing tables so
that two additional computer terminals may be installed (for added access to the
online catalog). The company that made the existing computer tables has gone out
of business. She will continue to search for possible products that will fit with the
existing tables, and may need to wait until the MLA conference in September to talk
directly with vendors.
June was the highest circulation ever recorded at the Elk River Library. A combination
of factors are likely reasons: the online catalog is gaining usage, the general
population of the area continues to grow, and the children's summer reading
program began in June.
A memo regarding ordering clothing with city logo was distributed.
Holm reported that Mrs. Bob Jones, wife of former library board member Bob Jones, passed
away on July 18~". She requested that the Secretary send a sympathy card to Bob on behalf
of the board.
Oleksowicz reported that GRRL's 2002 budget with a 5% increase has been passed by the
GRRL board. The position of GRRL Director remains open, and the GRRL board recently
increased the salary range significantly to encourage more applications. Laura Cassidy has
been hired for an open position at the Elk River Library.
Jacobs inquired about the possibility of a drive-up book drop at the Elk River Library.
Oleksowicz stated that a few libraries, such as Hennepin County, have designed drive-up
book drops. The current configuration of the Elk River Library and parking lot do not make
a drive-up book drop possible right now, but that in the future, when the library building
expands, adrive-up book drop could be included in the assessment and planning for new
building.
Next meeting is August 28, 2001.
Meeting adjourned at 7:40pm.
Respect Ily submitted,
-C/~L~~~' ~~~'~.~.,
Geraldine Graham, Secretary
