ELK RIVER LIBRARY BOARD MINUTES <br />Eleanor Holm, Chair present <br />Leslie Anderson, Vice Chair present <br />Geraldine Graham, Secretary present <br />Joanne Jacobs absent <br />Also present: Mick Stoffers, Librarian <br />Meeting was called to order at 6:40pm by Eleanor Holm. <br />It was determined that a Quorum was present. <br />August 28, 2001 <br />Action re: Minutes of July 24, 2001 meeting: <br />A motion was made by Anderson and seconded by Holm to approve minutes of July <br />24, 2001 meeting. Approved unanimously. <br />Action re: Minutes of March 27, 2001 meeting: <br />A motion was made by Holm and seconded by Anderson to approve minutes of <br />March 27, 2001 meeting. (Note: this action had been previously delayed due to canceled <br />meetings or lack of quorum.) Approved unanimously. <br />Correspondence: None. There were no suggestions from the public suggestion box. <br />Treasurer's Report of)uly 31, 2001: <br />A motion was made by Graham, seconded by Anderson to approve Treasurer's Report <br />of July 31, 2001. Approved unanimously. <br />Librarian's report by Mick Stoffers: <br />Old Business: <br />Re: Painting of exterior trim -Stoffers has again called Steve Greene to secure a date <br />for him to start this project, but was unable to reach him. The board expressed concern <br />that the painting season is almost gone and that if Greene cannot be reached soon, an <br />alternate painter should be contacted. <br />Re: Motion detectors - Andy's Electric had told us that the library was on its schedule, <br />but Stoffers has had no contact yet. She will re-contact them to confirm a date for this work <br />to be done. <br />Re: Open position on Board -Stoffers received a written letter from Hangaard <br />confirming his verbal resignation from the Board. This open position will be advertised in <br />the City Newsletter. Stoffers encouraged all Board members to recruit potential members. <br />New Business: <br />The Reader-Printer -The print cartridge has been used up, and Stoffers has ordered a <br />replacement, which costs approx. $150. She will check the availability of generic brand <br />cartridges which may be less expensive. Graham suggested Stoffers double check the <br />reader-printer's manual or talk with a customer service rep about whether a generic <br />cartridge is recommended. With computer printers, some generic brand cartridges gum up <br />the print head. <br />Library Grounds Upkeep -Stoffers received a complaint from one of the library's <br />neighbors that weeds from the library grounds were spreading into the neighbor's yard. <br />Stoffers will call Public Works to request weed spraying. The Board expressed concerns that <br />this spraying should be done as soon as possible, because maintaining good rapport with <br />
