February 10, 1997

])ear Mr. Yaurer,

We live in the Deerfield III addition and are
very concerned about the safety issue of getting
across Highway 169. As avid walkers, we frequently
need to cross that busy highway to go to Elk Park
Center, etc.

In o~r opinion, a fence would not solve the
problem. Pedestrians do need to take responsibili.ty
for their o~m safety by crossing ~the highway in
designated walkways, but they cannot factor in those
negligent motorists who choose to run red lights.

Therefore, we feel a much safer solution for
pedestrians would be the construction of a walk bridge
across Highway 169.

Thank you for your attention.

Sincerely,
