Special City Council Meeting <br />April 21, 19c]? <br />Page 3 <br /> <br /> Mayor Duitsman explained the city has plans to work with the school system to <br /> address the need for qualified workers. Rich Duggan indicated a state grant <br /> program is available to school/work transition. <br /> <br />Tom Casey, representing Doris and Kathy Specht, asked if the Plan involved <br />condemnation of property. Paul Steinman indicated the primary intention is to <br />work with willing property owners, should land acquisition be pursued. Mr. Casey <br />also asked if the city was aware of any changes proposed in the Wild & Scenic <br />River property designation. Mayor Duitsman explained changes have been <br />proposed which will alleviate some of the problems posed by the Wild & Scenic <br />Ordinance in downtown Elk River. Also, he noted that additional classifications <br />have been added. <br /> <br />It was the consensus of the representatives of all the various committees and <br />boards present to support the Economic Development Strategic Plan as <br />presented by the Task Force and recommend adoption of the plan by the Elk <br />River City Council. <br /> <br />Adjournment <br /> <br />The special meeting of the Elk River City Council was adjourned at 6:00 p.m. <br /> <br />Respectfully submitted, <br /> <br />Debbie Kleckner <br />Recording Secretary <br /> <br /> <br />
