City Council Minutes Page 2 <br />October 4, 2010 <br />----------------------------- <br />5.1. Recognition of Firefighter Mike Trunnell <br />Chief Cunningham presented the staff report. He noted that Mike Trunnell has recently <br />declared his retirement date of November 2 and requested council consider declaring <br />Tuesday, November 2, 2010 as Mike Trunnell Day. <br />Mayor Klinzing presented Mr. Trunnell with a plaque thanking him for his 30 years of <br />service to the community and the city. <br />MOVED BY COUNCILMEMBER ZERWAS AND SECONDED BY <br />COUNCILMEMBER MOTIN TO DECLARE TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 2, 2010 <br />AS MIKE TRUNNELL DAY. MOTION CARRIED 5-0. <br />5.2. Thermal Imaging Camera Replacement <br />Chief Cunningham presented the staff report. <br />Councilmember Gumphrey asked if purchasing two cameras would save money. <br />Chief Cunningham stated that he was not aware of any discounts but noted that one <br />company was offering $1,000 for trade-in of a used thermal imaging camera. <br />MOVED BY COUNCILMEMBER ZERWAS AND SECONDED BY <br />COUNCILMEMBER WESTGAARD TO APPROVE THE PURCHASE OF ONE <br />THERMAL IMAGING CAMERA AS OUTLINED IN THE STAFF REPORT. <br />MOTION CARRIED 5-0. <br />5.3. Discuss Council Worksession Agendas <br />Ms. Johnson presented the staff report. <br />Added to the November 8 worksession was Highways 10 and 169 plans discussion. <br />Mayor Klinzing recessed the meeting at 6:45 p.m. to conduct interviews. <br />6. RECESS TO UPPERTOWN CONFERENCE ROOM TO CONDUCT PARKS AND <br />RECREATION DIRECTOR INTERVIEWS <br />Mayor Klinzing reconvened the meeting at 6:47 p.m. and the council began interviewing <br />Michelle Olson. <br />Mayor Klinzing recessed the meeting at 7:50 p.m. She reconvened the meeting at 7:55 p.m. <br />and the council began interviewing Steve Benoit. <br />Mayor Klinzing recessed the meeting at 9:15 p.m. She reconvened the meeting at 9:20 p.m. <br />Present to discuss the interviewees were Human Resources Representative Lauren Wipper, <br />Recreation Coordinator Stephanie Albin, Recreation Marketing Coordinator RaeAnn <br />Gardner, and Ice Arena Manager Rich Czech. <br />
