Economic Development Authority Minutes <br />December 10, 2007 <br />Page 2 <br />FOR THE SALE OF $2,000,000 GENERAL OBLIGATION BONDS, SERIES 2008 <br />(YMCA PROJECT). MOTION CARRIED 7-0. <br />MOVED BY COMMISSIONER DWYER AND SECONDED BY <br />COMMISSIONER MOTIN TO CALL A SPECIAL MEETING OF THE <br />ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY FOR TUESDAY, JANUARY 22, <br />2008, FOR THE PURPOSE OF ISSUING THE $2,000,000 GENERAL <br />OBLIGATION BONDS, SERIES 2008 (YMCA PROJECT). MOTION CARRIED <br />7-0. <br />6. Update on Gateway Business Center <br />Planning Manager Jeremy Bamhact provided an update on the Gateway Business Center as <br />outlined in his staff report. Mr. Barnhart indicated that staff has not received any of the <br />requested information from the EECHCC representatives. He explained that without this <br />inforration, staff cannot accurately recommend a plat layout, delaying the preparation of <br />plat documents and putting the June 1 groundbreaking goal in jeopardy. <br />Commissioner Motin questioned when staff anticipates this additional information will be <br />received from EECHCC. Mr. Barnhart indicated that he would expect additional <br />information to be received by the first of the year. <br />Update on Post Office Proper at Lot 1, Block 1 Mulvaney Point <br />Director of Economic Development Catherine Mehelich stated that she has been in contact <br />with representatives from the Post Office and they are anticipating advertising the sale of the <br />Mulvaney property within the next month. Ms. Mehelich stated that it has not yet been <br />determined if the property will be sold through a bidding process or as a normal listing. Ms. <br />Mehelich noted that she has heard from developers interested in the property questioning <br />what the city's vision for the property is. She has indicated to them the discussion has been <br />on a fine dining establishment but asked the EDA to let her know if they have other ideas. <br />Ms. Mehelich indicated that an EDA Executive Session will be called to formalize whether <br />or not the EDA wishes to participate in the bidding process for this property and if so, the <br />price. <br />Commissioner Farber questioned if staff has heard from representatives of Umbria - La <br />Cucina Italiana. Ms. Mehelich indicated she called them last week and has not heazd back. <br />8. Discuss 2008 EDA Goals and Projects <br />Ms. Mehelich presented the staff report. She outlined 2007 projects, 2008 proposed goals <br />and projects, and ongoing initiatives. <br />President Gongoll explained that this discussion is meant as an opportunity for the EDA to <br />begin thinking about goals and projects for 2008. <br />Commissioner Dwyer indicated that he has been informed that the Target store on Freeport <br />will be closing by next October and he thinks the EDA and/or HRA should begin looking <br />at filling that large co~runercial space. <br />
