MOVED BY COMMISSIONER DWYER AND SECONDED BY COMMISSIONER MOTIN TO CALL A SPECIAL MEETING OF THE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY FOR TUESDAY, JANUARY 22, 2008, FOR THE PURPOSE OF ISSUING THE $2,000,000 GENERAL OBLIGATION BONDS, SERIES 2008 (YMCA PROJECT). MOTION CARRIED 7-0. 6. Update on Gateway Business Center Planning Manager Jeremy Bamhact provided an update on the Gateway Business Center as outlined in his staff report. Mr. Barnhart indicated that staff has not received any of the requested information from the EECHCC representatives. He explained that without this inforration, staff cannot accurately recommend a plat layout, delaying the preparation of plat documents and putting the June 1 groundbreaking goal in jeopardy. Commissioner Motin questioned when staff anticipates this additional information will be received from EECHCC. Mr. Barnhart indicated that he would expect additional information to be received by the first of the year. Update on Post Office Proper at Lot 1, Block 1 Mulvaney Point Director of Economic Development Catherine Mehelich stated that she has been in contact with representatives from the Post Office and they are anticipating advertising the sale of the Mulvaney property within the next month. Ms. Mehelich stated that it has not yet been determined if the property will be sold through a bidding process or as a normal listing. Ms. Mehelich noted that she has heard from developers interested in the property questioning what the city's vision for the property is. She has indicated to them the discussion has been on a fine dining establishment but asked the EDA to let her know if they have other ideas. Ms. Mehelich indicated that an EDA Executive Session will be called to formalize whether or not the EDA wishes to participate in the bidding process for this property and if so, the price. Commissioner Farber questioned if staff has heard from representatives of Umbria - La Cucina Italiana. Ms. Mehelich indicated she called them last week and has not heazd back. 8. Discuss 2008 EDA Goals and Projects Ms. Mehelich presented the staff report. She outlined 2007 projects, 2008 proposed goals and projects, and ongoing initiatives. President Gongoll explained that this discussion is meant as an opportunity for the EDA to begin thinking about goals and projects for 2008. Commissioner Dwyer indicated that he has been informed that the Target store on Freeport will be closing by next October and he thinks the EDA and/or HRA should begin looking at filling that large co~runercial space.
