<br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE
<br />CITY OF ELK RIVER
<br />AMENDING SECTION 30 -1
<br />OF THE CITY CODE OF
<br />ORDINANCES RELATING
<br />TO SIGNAGE DEFINITIONS
<br />The City Council -of the City of
<br />Elk River does hereby ordain as
<br />follows:
<br />Section 1. That Section 30 -1
<br />titled Definitions of Elk River
<br />City Code shall be amended to
<br />read as follows:
<br />Sign, Alteration of, means any
<br />change, reconstruction, reloca-
<br />tion, or enlargement/reduction
<br />of a sign, or. any. of its compo-
<br />nent parts, Routine mainte-
<br />nance and the repainting shall
<br />not be deemed to be an alter-
<br />ation.
<br />Sign, Freestanding, means
<br />any sign not attached to a prin-
<br />cipal or accessory building.
<br />Sign, Monument, means a
<br />Freestanding Sign supported
<br />by an internal structural
<br />framework covered by solid
<br />structural feature such that the
<br />support structure is not visible.
<br />The solid structural feature
<br />shall be at least 75% of the sign
<br />width.
<br />Sign, Moving, mea4,any sign
<br />or device which hai9 any'visible
<br />moving parta, visililo'kevolving
<br />parts, or visible mechanical
<br />movements.
<br />Sign area.
<br />(1) The area of any sign shall
<br />be the rectangular area of the
<br />largest face, including its bor-
<br />der area. For signs that are
<br />composed, of individual letters
<br />or symbols, have an irregular
<br />shape, have open spaces or are
<br />composed of two or more indi-
<br />vidual cabinets, the sign area
<br />shall be the area of the small-
<br />est single rectangular figure
<br />that encloses it.
<br />(2). If a Freestanding or
<br />Monument sign is constructed
<br />so that the faces are not back to
<br />back, the angles shall not
<br />exceed ten (10) degrees. If the
<br />angle is greater than ten (10)
