The guide has been mailed to <br />participants as well as distributed throughout the community at kiosks and Lions Park <br />Center. The guide is also posted on the Ciry Website. We invite community members to <br />check out the wide variety of recreational opportunities being offered. <br />The changes to the ordinance relating to hunting near pazks and trials that was discussed at <br />the July 14`h Parks and Recreation Commission meeting was reviewed at the July 19's City <br />Council Meeting. The Council had several additional revision requests for the ordinance so <br />the item was tabled to the August 2"d Council meeting. At the August 2"d Council meeting <br />the ordinance adjustments were approved. The summary of the ordinance aze as follows: <br />• Restricts hunting within 500 feet of a park or trail unless a special permit has been <br />obtained from the Police Departtnent <br />• Allowance for city approved azchery ranges, biathlon ranges, and gun clubs <br />At the July 14s' Pazks and Recreation Commission Meeting discussion was held regarding <br />negative behavior by users of the Great Northern Trail in relation to private properties <br />adjacent to the trail. Staff is currently working on developing signage to be posted on the <br />trail to educate users of proper trial etiquette. <br />At the July 14's Parks and Recreation Commission Meeting the Commission was updated on <br />the status of Bailey Point. The property owner has approached the City to determine if the <br />Ciry has interest in purchasing the property with the intent of adding a pazk to the system. <br />The council is planning to discuss this item at an upcoming work session. <br />S:\Parks & Recreation\B-11-10 PRC Packet\Recreation Managers Aepott-all memos.doc <br />
