Item # 6. <br />MEMO <br />TO: Bill Maertz <br />FROM: Suzanne Kostanshek, Senior Center Manager <br />DATE: 1-31-06 <br />SUBJECT: Staff Report <br />Hot Topic(s) of the Month <br />A large sum of cash was found by a volunteer in a fabric donation. Called police. They <br />will hold it for 90 days and then the City Administrator will decide what happens to it if <br />no one identifies it. She and I have talked about the situation. The volunteer seems a <br />little disgruntled the way it was handled. <br />Luau co-sponsored with Senior Dining on 1-25, # 164 attended. Went very well. <br />Moral has been very improved with Senior Dining, it's like working at a new place! <br />Free Income Taxis starting from Feb to April. <br />The Author Talk with ERAAA on 1-11-06 was great. Over 60 people in attendance. <br />Cribbage tournament held on 1-30-06. <br />A physician, a speaker, from the MN Stroke Association will speak here on 2-23. This is <br />the Healthy Living program for Feb. Usually attendance is very high when we can get a <br />physician to be the presenter. <br />A Saturday event with lunch and music is planned for 2-25. This event is being co- <br />sponsored with Faith In Action. This program is replacing Cabin Fever. <br />Dan Dixon said that we could have a sign on the lawn stating Senior Center /Elk river <br />Park and Rec place in front of the large pine tree. <br />Working on an event called "Red Hat March Madness" An Elvis Show & Dinner inviting <br />area Red Hat Groups 3-9-06. The Elk River and Monticello Senior Centers are planning <br />extra events and tours for Red Hatters this year. <br />Jan/Feb Tours and Outings: <br />1-31-06 Lowe Family from Branson @ Turtle Lake <br />1-31-06 Red Hat group to Champlin for shopping and Yummy Buffet <br />
