The following was approved unanimously by the ERSC
board on May 13th. This proposal was then presented to the
general membership on May 19th. Items # 1, 3 and 4 were
unanimously approved by the general membership. Item #2 (the
electronic gate access system) was approved with little
opposition.
ERSC Security and Safety Proposal
The Elk River Sportsman's Club has nearly doubled in size over
the past 6 years. This expansion of membership and usage has far
exceeded the Club's ability to control activities and range conduct.
Very few improvements to the club's security or safety took place
during these years of added revenue from new members.
Unfortunately, the Club is facing increased scrutiny from the
public and from city officials. I believe that in order to preserve
the Elk River Sportsman's Club as we now enjoy it, several
measures must be taken as soon as possible to control activities on
Club property. I respectfully request the Officers and Board
review these propose policies and procedures. I, along with many
other concerned members, have worked hard on this plan both to
protect member access to individual ranges as well as the whole
Club.
1) Ask activity chairs to review their ranges and range
procedures. Activity chairs would submit a report on their
range and any recommended changes for board review at the
June meeting.
2) Electronically controlled access through the club's main
gate. Budget estimate of $15,000 for a complete system.
