MEMORANDUM <br /> <br />Item~ <br /> <br />TO: <br /> <br />Mayor and City Council <br /> <br />FROM: <br /> <br />Steve Rohlf, Building and Zoning Administrator <br /> <br />DATE: <br /> <br />October 8, 2001 <br /> <br />SUBJECT: Authorization to Hire Building Permit Technician <br /> <br />3.3. <br /> <br />Forty-four applications were received for the position of Building Permit Technician <br />with the Building and Zoning Department. Many well qualified people applied. Six <br />applicants were interviewed and two received a second interview. <br /> <br />Staff is recommending that the city hire Jennifer Harmer for the position of <br />Building Permit Technician. Ms. Harmer is an Elk River resident. She has a two-year <br />degree from Anoka Ramsey and has worked for the past 12 years at Cemstone Ready- <br />mix as a dispatcher. Ms. Harmer's former employers gave her an excellent <br />recommendation. Her experience with contractors makes her a good fit in the Building <br />and Zoning Department. <br /> <br />Staff further recommends the following conditions of hiring: <br /> <br />starting wage of $11.82 per hour (pay grade 7, step A), <br />starting date 10/15/01, <br />completion of orientation period April 15, 2002, <br />normal cost of living increase in January 2002, <br />first step increase July of 2002. <br /> <br /> <br />
