The Committee reviewed the proposed idea and responded to Mr. Krekelberg via a letter on March 9, 2010 stating the Committee has to weigh: 1) the speed and accuracy in the receipt of emergency services such as police and fire calls and 2) general mail delivery -against that of inconveniences. The Committee did not feel it was an acceptable solution to the address issue. Mr. Krekelberg contacted Councilmember Gumphrey with his objection. Mr. Gumphrey then contacted Ms. Johnson for information on why the change was being proposed. Ms. Johnson asked me to put together a memo explaining the reasoning. I drafted a memo on March 15, 2010 and provided it to Ms. Johnson to give to Mr. Gumphrey who then spoke with Mr. Krekelberg the week of March 22, 2010 where he stated he was not pleased with the City's response. Three members of the Address Committee met with Mr. Gumphrey and Ms. Johnson on March 30, 2010 to discuss what could be done. It was decided to forward the address change to the organizations that will cover life/safety concerns and inform Mr. Krekelberg that he can contact the post office and have them forward his mail for one year. A letter was sent to the Krekelberg's indicating this solution and asked for a response by April 9, 2010. Staff received no response and sent out the address change letter on April 12, 2010. On June 16, 2010, the Krekelberg's provided a letter to Ms. Johnson requesting the decision be brought to the City Council for reversal.
